Volunteers are needed to staff all areas of the carnival and silent auction. Email Leanne Rand or use the Communication/Contact Link Above to sign up.
We will begin collecting sodas and baked goods beginning Monday, October 17th. Information about bake goods for the cake walk will be sent out the week of October 11th.
We are looking for performing groups (singers, dancers, dance or cheer teams, musicians or other perfomers) for the main stage. Various time slots are available during the 2:00 - 6:00 PM carnival. Email Leanne Rand or use the Communication/Contact Link Above for details, suggestions, or interests.
The silent auction team is working hard to put another set of AWESOME items together! We don't really have any one BIG item at this time but we will have lots of baskets, sporting event tickets, local entertainment passes, hotel packages, and of course those ever popular teacher and staff items! If any parents have a connection to a local business that would like to use our silent auction as an advertising opportunity by donating items we would welcome all. Also any parents that might own a small business they could benefit from the advertising as well. We had several last year from Scentsy, Homemade Gourmet, and Mary Kay. Email Carol Miller, Mindy Freeland, OR Stephanie Tresch or use the Communication/Contact Link Above if your have donations or have someone willing to donate an auction item.
"Rain or Shine, the Fall Carnival does go on !" In 2010 we had the 11th Annual Fall Carnival AND did it ever rain - it just poured all during the 4 hour event. The Carnival was moved inside the Larson Elementary School building and great FUN followed. Highlights of the Carnival were those favorites of the past 11 years - games and food. For the first time, the carnival was combined with the biannual Silent Auction - WOW! Highlight of the auction was an autographed by Michael Young baseball bat which was very fitting as the night before the auction Michael and the Texas Rangers won the American League Championship.
In typical Larson volunteer fashion; committee chairs, parents, and teachers worked together to have fun and benefit the school at the same time. Bounce houses, cotton candy, snow cones, burgers, Cake in the Face, Dancing with the Teachers, Build-a-Buddy, Flip-a-Frog, the Cake Walk, singing and music performances, and prizes--prizes--prizes are just a few reasons that make Larson's carnival amazing.
In past years, a highlight of spring activities at Larson had been the Silent Auction held every other year. Now, it is in the fall combined with Fall Carnival making the Carnival one of the largest family and friend events on the east side of AISD. Through the generosity of sponsors, merchants, businesses, parents, administration, faculty, and staff numerous items go up for auction in a fun filled time of bidding and rebidding. The Silent Auction began with a rush from table to table as students, parents, administrators, faculty, and staff enterred their bids. Carol Miller, Mindy Freeland, and Stephanie Tresch are the Fall Silent Auction Co-Coordinators.
